Honda issues recall on nearly 295K cars due to fuel injection software issue

Honda has announced a voluntary recall of nearly 295,000 vehicles in the United States due to a software issue in the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU). This problem can cause sudden changes in throttle response, potentially illuminating the check engine light and leading to engine power loss, hesitation, or stalling, thereby increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Affected Models:

The recall affects the following vehicles:

  • 2023-2025 Honda Pilot
  • 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type S
  • 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type S

These models are equipped with V-6 engines and were manufactured between 2021 and 2025.

Next Steps for Owners:

Honda will begin notifying registered owners of the affected vehicles by mail in March 2025. Owners are advised to take their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer to have the FI-ECU software updated free of charge. For more information or to check if your vehicle is affected, you can visit the Honda recalls website or contact Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138.

While Honda has not reported any confirmed incidents of crashes or injuries related to this issue, owners are encouraged to address the recall promptly to ensure their safety.
